Mama T - How do you balance all the demands in your life? “As
a mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and business woman life
balance is imperative. All work and no play make us a pain in the neck.
So, I attempt to have a flexible system that I’m comfortable with. I
use a calendar for my personal as well as business appointments to keep
from overlapping. I usually think a week ahead to plan the week. Each
day of the week is tentatively designated for an event or appointment
of the same kind. For example, Monday is catch up day from the week
before and a planning for the week; Tuesday is radio interviews or the
gazebo Bible Study with special lunches; Wednesday is beauty shop,
running errands day; Thursday is study for presentations day; Friday,
Saturday are usually travel and speaking days; Sunday is church unless
I’m traveling. This
does not always work according to schedule but I try to stay focus
on what I need to do, when. During these days I remain flexible and
allow time for changes, cancellations, rotations and redefining anything
that needs to fit elsewhere in my schedule. Most of the time, I never
get perturbed about schedule interruptions. I remain calm. On
my annual calendar are family event days, holidays and special days for
my family. Remembering the order for my life is imperative too. Christ
first, my family next and my career (work) next. The
most important time of my day is early in the morning when I’m
concentrating and communicating with God about my day and thanking Him
for allowing me to see a new day. I quote this prayer a lot, “Lord,
open the doors I need to walk through today and close the doors I
don’t. Get people out of my way today that I don’t need to talk to and
put people in my way I do. And Lord, please don’t let me waste time!” I
find that I have time to add in cooking, light cleaning and washing
when I settle down and do what needs to be done without frustration and
anxiety.” Dr. Thelma Wells, D.D. President of A Woman of God Ministries Speaker/Author/Professor/Founder of the Ready to Win Events |
